USS Inaugural Shipmate

Dates Aboard the USS Inaugural:  December 30, 1944 - April 05, 1946

Ranks held on the Inaugural:  Radio Technician 2nd class (see ranks section)

Bunk location:  Forward crew compartment on the port side of the ship.

Free-time activities while at sea:  "Write home, listen to the radio, read books and equipment manuals, play cards or other games and sack out in the bunk.  On hot summer nights we would sleep out on the deck.  We also took showers in the rain that ran off the upper deck."

Life After WWII:  

Attended the University of Wisconsin and received a degree in electrical engineering.  Worked at the local municipal utilities as the manager of the generating plant until his retirement 14 years ago.  He keeps busy with church, Kiwanis, Ham radio N9VIA and genealogy.
